Tier 1: the co-favorites (1 and 2)
1. Oklahoma City Thunder (+265, 62.5 wins)
The 2025 champions lost to San Antonio in Game 7 of last season's Western Conference finals, and the market still has them level with the Spurs for the title. Oklahoma City's 62.5 win total is the highest in the NBA and has climbed two wins at BetMGM since July. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has won back-to-back MVPs and is second on the NBA MVP odds board.
2. San Antonio Spurs (+265, 60.5 wins)
San Antonio reached its first NBA Finals since 2014 and lost 4-1 to New York. Victor Wembanyama is the MVP favorite at about +200, and the Spurs' 60.5 win total is their highest in more than 30 seasons. The two teams meet on opening night.
Tier 2: the East's top three (3 to 5)
3. Philadelphia 76ers (+850, 50.5 wins)
Philadelphia had the biggest offseason in the league, adding Jaylen Brown and then signing LeBron James next to Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. The books price the 76ers just ahead of the champs for the title, though their 50.5 win total sits two wins below New York's.
4. New York Knicks (+900, 52.5 wins)
The defending champions beat San Antonio in five games, with Jalen Brunson named Finals MVP. New York has the East's highest win total at 52.5 and opens the season at home against Philadelphia.
5. Boston Celtics (+1,400, 51.5 wins)
Boston is fifth on the title board and at 51.5 wins, but the books split on the Celtics more than any other top team: +1,300 at DraftKings and Hard Rock, +1,800 at Caesars.
Tier 3: playoff teams (6 to 14)
- 6. Detroit Pistons (+2,500, win total 49.5): The top of a five-team group all priced at +2,500. Detroit's win total slipped from 50.5 to 49.5 at BetMGM since July.
- 7. Minnesota Timberwolves (+2,500, win total 48.5): Same +2,500 title price, and down a win to 48.5 at BetMGM.
- 8. Denver Nuggets (+2,500, win total 48.5): +2,500 for the title and 48.5 wins.
- 9. Cleveland Cavaliers (+2,500, win total 48.5): +2,500 and 48.5 wins.
- 10. Toronto Raptors (+2,500, win total 46.5): +2,500 for the title, with a win total of 46.5, up a win since July.
- 11. Miami Heat (+3,000, win total 46.5): Miami traded for Giannis Antetokounmpo in June. The Heat are +3,000 for the title with a 46.5 win total.
- 12. Los Angeles Lakers (+3,750, win total 45.5): +3,000 to +5,000 for the title depending on the book, and 45.5 wins.
- 13. Indiana Pacers (+4,000, win total 43.5): 43.5 wins, with the over priced -130 or more at three books.
- 14. Houston Rockets (+4,750, win total 47.5): Houston's 47.5 win total ranks 10th in the league, higher than its title price suggests.
Tier 4: the play-in race (15 to 23)
- 15. Golden State Warriors (+6,000, win total 38): BetMGM had no win total posted when we checked; the other books have Golden State at 37.5 to 39.5, down from 40.5 in July.
- 16. Atlanta Hawks (+6,800, win total 43.5): 43.5 wins at every book that posts a number.
- 17. Orlando Magic (+7,500, win total 43.5): 43.5 wins, with the over at -130 or more at three books.
- 18. Portland Trail Blazers (+7,750, win total 41.5): Down a win to 42.5 at BetMGM.
- 19. Charlotte Hornets (+10,000, win total 39.5): Up two wins since July to 39.5 at BetMGM.
- 20. Phoenix Suns (+12,250, win total 40.5): Up two wins to 40.5 at BetMGM.
- 21. Washington Wizards (+15,000, win total 34.5): 34.5 wins. No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa is a top-four Rookie of the Year favorite.
- 22. Utah Jazz (+20,000, win total 37.5): Up two wins to 37.5. No. 2 pick Darryn Peterson is a Rookie of the Year contender.
- 23. Dallas Mavericks (+20,000, win total 33.5): 33.5 wins, the year after Cooper Flagg won Rookie of the Year.
Tier 5: the lottery (24 to 30)
- 24. New Orleans Pelicans (+50,000, win total 28.5): 28.5 wins.
- 25. Los Angeles Clippers (+50,000, win total 28.5): 28.5 wins, with books from 27.5 to 30.5. No. 5 pick Keaton Wagler is on the ROY board.
- 26. Chicago Bulls (+65,000, win total 29.5): Up two wins to 29.5. No. 4 pick Caleb Wilson is among the Rookie of the Year favorites.
- 27. Milwaukee Bucks (+75,000, win total 25.5): 25.5 wins, down one since July, the first season after trading Giannis Antetokounmpo.
- 28. Memphis Grizzlies (+90,000, win total 29.5): 29.5 wins. No. 3 pick Cameron Boozer is the Rookie of the Year favorite.
- 29. Brooklyn Nets (+100,000, win total 24.5): Up two wins to 24.5. No. 6 pick Mikel Brown Jr. is on the ROY board.
- 30. Sacramento Kings (+100,000, win total 20.5): The lowest win total in the league at 20.5. No. 7 pick Darius Acuff Jr. is the fifth Rookie of the Year choice.
Why the title odds and win totals disagree
Title odds measure the chance of winning 16 playoff games. Win totals measure 82 regular-season games. That is why the 76ers rank third by title odds but have only the fifth-highest win total, and why Houston's 47.5 wins rank 10th while its title price ranks 14th.
