The 4-star Game of the Month: Wake Forest -12.5
We called Virginia @ Wake Forest our Game of the Month, and it was the first time this season we rated a play at 4 stars. No. 14 Wake Forest closed around -12.5 to -13.5 depending on the book and won 51-7 at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium. The Demon Deacons scored on their first nine possessions, led 20-0 at halftime and outgained Virginia 538-330, including 309-16 on the ground. Gio Lopez threw for 229 yards and ran for 64. Wake Forest is now 7-1 and has won five straight; Virginia has lost three in a row.
Miami vs North Carolina went Over 53 by 20 points
Top-ranked Miami beat North Carolina 38-35 at Kenan Stadium, and the 73 combined points cleared our Over 53 with room to spare. North Carolina quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. threw for 341 yards and four touchdowns, Miami answered with two fourth-quarter scores, and the total was already past 53 early in the fourth quarter, before a late strip-sack sealed the game for the Hurricanes.
Air Force, the 76ers, the Trail Blazers and the Avalanche
Air Force +1 never needed the point: the Falcons beat UConn 35-26 without completing a pass, running for 366 yards, and a 19-play drive that took 11:37 off the clock in the fourth quarter closed it out. In the NBA, the Trail Blazers beat the Jazz 112-90 to cover -6.5 by 15.5, and the 76ers won 109-104 at Charlotte with a 13-0 run late, Tyrese Maxey scoring 38 with LeBron James and Joel Embiid resting. In the late hockey game, the Avalanche beat the Flames 5-2 to cash the -2.5 puck line at +105.
The two losses
Old Dominion +2.5 lost 36-23 to Marshall. Marshall turned four turnovers into 20 points and led 27-10 at halftime, which was the game. Our Rutgers team total Under 14.5 lost when Rutgers scored 21 in a 28-21 loss to Michigan; Rutgers completed only three passes all game, but they were big ones, and that was enough to get to 21.
