Giants vs Eagles Prediction: Odds, Quarterbacks and Our Read for Week 9

The New York Giants are a 3.5-point road favorite over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field, with a total of 38.5, the lowest on the Week 9 board, as of Friday, November 6, 2026, 11:15 AM ET. The line implies a final around Giants 21, Eagles 17.5. Both teams start a backup quarterback: J.J. McCarthy for New York with Jaxson Dart on injured reserve, and Tanner McKee or Joe Milton for Philadelphia with Jalen Hurts out for the season. The Eagles have lost six straight. Our number and Massey both lean to the home team with the points, but with the Eagles' quarterback listed as questionable we have no lean. Here is the full Giants vs Eagles prediction from the odds, the models and the injury reports.

The DraftKings column on the SBR board has been stale this season, so it is left out of the ranges. The best Eagles number is +3.5 at even money at Fanatics; the best Giants price is -3.5 (+100) at the same book. Our free plays for the week are on our free picks page.
Giants vs Eagles prediction from the odds
The market says Giants 21, Eagles 17.5. Our own number starts from each team's yards per play on offense and defense (TeamRankings, through Week 8), projects plays and points for each side, blends that with the scoring averages, adds 2.5 for home field and adjusts for schedule strength. It comes out Eagles 21.6, Giants 24.7 before home field and schedule, and Eagles by 2.2 after it, because the Giants have played the second-easiest schedule in the league by TeamRankings' measure and the Eagles a near-average one. The total comes out 46.3. Massey Ratings projects Eagles 23, Giants 20 (55% Philadelphia) with a total of 44.5. The Prediction Tracker's 55-system median is Giants by 3.03 (average 2.52, standard deviation 3.59), with Philadelphia covering 50.7% of the time.
| Read | Margin | Total | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Market | Giants -3.5 | 38.5 | SportsbookReview, 11:15 AM ET |
| Our number | Eagles +2.2 | 46.3 | Yards per play, SOS-adjusted, +2.5 home |
| Massey Ratings | Eagles +3 (23-20) | 44.5 | masseyratings.com |
| Prediction Tracker median | Giants -3.03 | n/a | 55 systems, sd 3.59, PHI cover 50.7% |
Two of our three reads are on the Eagles side by 5.7 and 6.5 points, and the third is on the line. In a normal week that is a lean on the home dog. This is not a normal week: every one of those numbers is built on season averages that include four Eagles games with Jalen Hurts and five Giants games with Jaxson Dart or Jameis Winston, and neither quarterback plays Sunday. The total is the other tell. Our 46.3 and Massey's 44.5 are both 6 to 8 points above 38.5, which is the market saying two backup passers and two bad offenses, Philadelphia's 4.4 yards per play is last in the league, will not reach the averages. We do not play a total against two backup quarterbacks, and the gate for a football total is 8 points anyway.
How the Giants and Eagles got here
| Team | Record | Last three | PPG / allowed | Yards per play (off / def) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| New York Giants | 4-2-1 | T 27-27 OT @ WAS, L 27-34 vs NO, W 27-21 OT @ HOU | 23.3 / 23.0 | 5.2 (19th) / 5.3 (14th) |
| Philadelphia Eagles | 2-6 | L 14-25 vs CAR, L 21-38 vs DAL, L 10-27 @ WAS | 17.1 / 25.3 | 4.4 (32nd) / 5.6 (23rd) |
The Giants are 4-2-1 and coming off their bye, which followed an overtime win in Houston on October 25. They have been playing without Dart since Week 2 (torn MCL and meniscus against the Rams), started Jameis Winston, then traded a 2027 fifth-round pick to Minnesota for J.J. McCarthy on September 28. New York scores 23.3 points a game on 5.2 yards per play and allows 23.0 on 5.3, and the pass defense gives up 5.9 yards per attempt, fourth-best in the league. Brian Burns (ACL) and Tremaine Edmunds (chest) are out for the season on defense.
Philadelphia is 2-6 and has not won since beating Tennessee 24-20 on September 20. Jalen Hurts went on injured reserve on October 19 with blood clots in his lungs and is out for the season; Lane Johnson retired after Week 4. Tanner McKee took over at quarterback and the offense has averaged 15 points in his three starts: 14 against Carolina, 21 against Dallas and 10 at Washington. For the season the Eagles are last in the league in yards per play at 4.4 and 30th in scoring at 17.1 a game. The defense is middle of the pack, 5.6 yards per play allowed and 25.3 points, and it is the unit our number and Massey still rate above the Giants' offense, which is why both land on the home side.

Statuses are from the CBS Sports injury page, the Giants' Thursday report and the Eagles' Wednesday report as of Friday morning, November 6; the official designations come out Friday afternoon and inactives drop 90 minutes before the 1:00 PM kickoff. The quarterback is the whole game. CBS lists McKee as limited Thursday and questionable, the Eagles' own Wednesday report had him at full practice, and one Philadelphia outlet has reported that Joe Milton will start; the team has not said. On the Giants' side, Malik Nabers (knee) and Cam Skattebo (hamstring) both sat Thursday, which would leave McCarthy without his top receiver and lead back. Treat every one of those as open until Friday's report.
