Prices differ a lot between books on some teams. The Toronto Maple Leafs run from +2200 to +4000 and the Los Angeles Kings from +3000 to +5000, so shopping the number matters on any Stanley Cup bet. Compare books on our sportsbooks page.
Tier 1: Stanley Cup favorites (1 to 3)
1. Florida Panthers (+650). Florida won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2024 and 2025 before an injury-hit 2025-26. Books have them back on top, at a fair chance of about 10.6%.
2. Colorado Avalanche (+700). The top team in the West on the board, priced from +600 at Caesars to +750 at two books. They are the shortest Western Conference price by a clear margin over Edmonton.
3. Carolina Hurricanes (+725). The defending champions closed out the 2026 Final with a 3-0 shutout of Vegas in Game 6. Even so, the market makes them only the third choice to repeat. Carolina opened the season against Florida on September 29, a rematch of the two top favorites.
Tier 2: real contenders (4 to 10)
The Edmonton Oilers (+900), Vegas Golden Knights (+1000), Tampa Bay Lightning (+1200), Minnesota Wild (+1350), Dallas Stars (+1550), Washington Capitals (+1550) and Montreal Canadiens (+1950) make up the second tier. Vegas reached the 2026 Final and is fifth here. Washington has the widest spread in the group, from +1200 at FanDuel to +1800 at Caesars.
Tier 3: playoff hopefuls (11 to 18)
Eight teams sit between +2900 and +3500: the Maple Leafs, Devils, Ducks, Sabres, Mammoth, Kings, Senators and Sharks. In fair terms each has roughly a 2% to 3% chance. This is the tier where a hot first month moves prices the most, so it is worth watching week to week.
Tier 4: long shots (19 to 32)
From the Philadelphia Flyers (+5000) down to the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks (+50000), these 14 teams combine for only about 10% of the fair probability. The New York Rangers (+7250) and Boston Bruins (+9500) are the most notable names in this group.
What changed for the 2026-27 NHL season
The 2026-27 regular season started on September 29, 2026, only the second September start in league history, and runs to April 10, 2027. Under the new collective bargaining agreement, teams play 84 games, the longest schedule since 1993-94, and preseason is capped at four games. The All-Star Game is February 5 to 6, 2027, hosted by the New York Islanders.
A longer season gives more time for futures prices to move, and the gap between a +650 favorite and the field is huge: the field is far more likely to win than any single team. If you are new to how these prices work, read our guides to futures bets, reading odds and the vig.
